Dow NUCREL Acid Copolymers

Discover the endless possibilities with Dow NUCREL™ Acid Copolymers, a game-changer in the world of specialty films, adhesives, automotive, industrial and consumer products!

Dow NUCREL™ Acid Copolymers offer dependable performance in all of your packaging and industrial applications. NUCREL™ ethylene acid copolymers provide outstanding chemically resistant bonds to metal, metal foils and other polar materials. In packaging applications NUCREL™ offers low heat seal initiation temperatures, very good hot tack strength, good seal through contamination, excellent taste and odor performance, and excellent environmental stress cracking resistance. NUCREL™ is used in many packaging applications including aseptic packaging, condiment packaging, snack packaging, and toothpaste laminates. In consumer and industrial applications NUCREL™ can be found in wire and cable, cable jackets, protective metal coatings, thermal lamination films, and as an adhesive tie layer between polyethylene and ionomers in shock tubes used in explosive detonator systems. NUCREL can also be used as a polymer modifier, carrier resin for color and additive concentrates, in paint and ink formulations and glass adhesive. High acid grades of NUCREL™ can be used to make aqueous dispersions that find use in book bindings. Specialized grades of NUCREL are available that offer high speed processing (HS grades), high clarity (HC grades) and adhesion enhancement (AE grades) that can be blended into LDPE at 15 – 30% to improve adhesion to metal. NUCREL™ is most commonly processed by blown film, cast film and extrusion coating but can also be compounded, made into hot melt adhesives and dissolved for aqueous dispersions.
