Formosa Plastics utilizes a unique combination of world-class process technologies to produce a wide range of polypropylene resins. Formolene® resins are available in homopolymer, impact copolymer, and random copolymer products offering a wide range of properties from very stiff and rigid, to semi-rigid, to flexible with high impact, and high clarity. Many grades come with agency approvals such as FDA or UL, and many have automotive approvals. Formolene® resins offer easy processing, chemical resistance, and high durability and are used in applications such as caps & closures, furniture, housewares, packaging, toys, automotive, packaging, lawn and garden, and films and fibers.

INJECTION MOLDING PROCESSING CONDITIONS

Melt Temperature Range: 400°F – 470°F

Barrel Temperature Range:

  • Rear Zone: 390°F - 440°F
  • Middle Zone: 390°F - 450°F
  • Front Zone: 390°F - 470°F

Mold Temperature Range: 60°F - 120°F

Injection Speed: as fast as possible

CAST SHEET and CAST FILM EXTRUSION PROCESSING CONDITIONS

Melt Temperature Range: 445°F – 518°F

Chill Roll Temperature: 68°F

Polishing Roll Temperature: >40°F

FIBER and SLIT FIM PROCESSING CONDITIONS

Melt Temperature Range: 445°F – 465°F

Chill Roll Temperature: -4°F (Slit Film)

Draw Ratio: >3 for Fiber; 6 – 8 for Slit Film
