INEOS Styrolution K-Resin® Product Guide

Are you looking for a clear polymer with sparkling clarity, high gloss, shatter resistance and easy processing? Then look no more! Consider K-Resin® Styrenic Block Copolymers from Entec Polymers. K-Resin® SBC offers easy processing with high clarity and high gloss for injection molding, blow molding, blown film, and sheet extrusion and thermoforming.

As a premier clear resin, K-Resin® Styrenic Block Copolymer (SBC) is known for its unique blend of sparkling clarity, impact, toughness, stiffness and exceptional gloss. K-Resin® SBC has been used for over 40 years in a variety of applications ranging from packaging and toys to medical components and displays.

K-Resin® SBC, alone or in blends with crystal polystyrene, can be injection molded, extruded, blow molded, and thermoformed at high output rates. This has allowed K-Resin® SBC to produce tough clear disposal drinking cups, lids, and other packaging. In blow molding, K-Resin® SBC can be processed on conventional equipment, allowing molders to produce crystal clear bottles with no need for special equipment, molds, screws, or dryers. In film, K-Resin SBC makes a clear, stiff, high gloss film suitable for applications such as candy twist wrap, shrink sleeves and overwrap. Another advantage of K-Resin® SBC is that it is economically attractive compared to other clear polymers because of its much lower density.

While K-Resin® SBC can be blended with many other polymers, the largest application is blending with crystal polystyrene in sheet extrusion. This blend results in a low-cost sheet with good clarity, stiffness and toughness. Blending K-Resin® SBC into HIPS results in a HIPS product with higher gloss; blending with polypropylene can give a pearlescence effect and it can also be used to improve the impact and toughness in SAN and SMMA.

K-Resin® can be decorated using common methods such as hot stamping, screen printing, offset printing and flexographic printing. Grades of K-Resin® that contain mold release additives may require surface treatment before printing.

Consider K-Resin® as a possible candidate for your next clear application where clarity, toughness and stiffness are required.
