Caps & Closures

Caps and closures are a large part of the rigid packaging market as many applications will require a cap or closure. For example, water and soda bottles, sports drink bottles, and pharmaceutical bottles. There are a number of different types of caps and closures available depending on the specific bottle type and end use and include the following types:

  • Push-Pull
  • Flip Top
  • Dispensing Cap
  • Child Resistant Cap
  • Twist Top
  • Push Pull Closure
  • Snap Cap
  • Tamper Evident Cap
  • Dropper Cap
  • Flapper Cap
  • Towel Cap

The primary materials used for caps and closures include HDPE, LLDPE, LDPE and polypropylene. HDPE and bimodal HDPE are often used for carbonated drinks as well as general purpose caps. LLDPE and LDPE are commonly used for general purpose caps and closures such as those used for water, dairy and juice bottles. Polypropylene is commonly used for food, cosmetic, personal care, and household chemical caps and closures. Polypropylene also offers an advantage over polyethylene in applications requiring good living hinge characteristics.

Entec Polymers is a major supplier in the caps and closures market offering PE and PP products from multiple suppliers such as Dow, Nova, INEOS, Pinnacle and Formosa. In addition to supplying polymers, Entec also offers masterbatch additives used in caps and closures applications. These additive masterbatches include colors, nucleating agents, siloxane and other modifiers.
