Recycling Innovations

We’re using recycled raw materials in our products to ensure they don’t end up as waste. With our technological expertise, we’re raising the bar for recycled products by improving their quality.

Mechanical Recycling

Through mechanical recycling, we recover end-of-life products and use them as raw materials. This is the most effective method for reducing plastic waste and virgin feedstock consumption. We also increase the durability of our recycled materials by ensuring they are excellent quality and demonstrate great mechanical properties.

Chemical Recycling

For plastics that cannot be recycled mechanically, our chemical recycling process breaks them back down into monomers. These are combined to form new polymers that replace virgin materials, reducing our dependence on fossil feedstocks. As part of our chemical recycling efforts, we have successfully produced optical light guide plates using recycled MMA.

Bioplastic Innovations

We’re developing bioplastics that are either made from bio-based resources or will decompose after use. As a result, these materials will reduce our waste and fossil fuel consumption.

Biomass Feedstock

We’re preparing to replace some of the fossil feedstock used in our polymer production with bio-based feedstock. We’re tracking this renewable feedstock throughout our production line to comply with the mass balance approach, and we’re building partnerships to ensure a greener value chain.

Biodegradable Material

We are currently developing biodegradable materials that will be decomposed by living organisms in compost sites. As these materials can be broken down quickly, we’ve identified the potential for them to replace single-use plastic packaging which is the number one source of plastic waste.

We’re tackling sustainability from a more holistic point of view. With production innovations, we're thinking beyond raw materials and creating greener manufacturing processes.

Carbon Capture & Utilization

We are developing Carbon Capture & Utilization (CCU) technology to remove CO2 from our flue gas and recycle it into our polycarbonate (PC) manufacturing process. This will directly reduce our greenhouse gas emissions and create a circular system where all byproducts are recycled.

Ecologue™ PCR ABS

CHIMEI’s Ecologue™ PCR ABS resin is a copolymer composed of styrene (SM), acrylonitrile (AN), and butadiene (BD), and contains post-consumer recycled (PCR) materials that have been mechanically recycled. Our expertise in ABS production and recycling technologies ensures that our PCR ABS maintains the same exceptional mechanical properties as its virgin equivalent. CHIMEI has built solid partnerships with qualified and licensed upstream suppliers to ensure a stable quality and supply of PCR. The material offers a high-gloss, ultra-high rigidity, tensile strength, and is well suited for use in home appliances, household items and office supplies. The environmental benefits of our PCR ABS resin are that it decreases virgin feedstock consumption and prevents plastic waste from ending up in the environment. Ecologue™ PCR ABS is compliant with TDS-ISO, SDS, RoHS, SVHC, and international standards for environmental protection.

Ecologue™ PCR FR-PC

CHIMEI’s Ecologue™ PCR FR-PC resin is a polycarbonate (PC) containing post-consumer recycled (PCR) plastics recovered by mechanical recycling. By leveraging our expertise in PC production, CHIMEI’s PCR FR-PC displays physical properties equivalent to virgin PC resin, including excellent flame retardancy. This makes it ideal for electrical appliance manufacturers as it reduces the risk of their products catching fire. PCR FR-PC reduces the use of virgin PC resin and adds value to plastic waste by incorporating it back into the production line as a raw material. Ecologue™ PCR FR-PC is compliant with TDS-ISO, SDS, RoHS, SVHC, and international standards for environmental protection.

Ecologue™ PCR FR-PC/ABS

CHIMEI’s Ecologue™ PCR FR-PC/ABS is a blend of polycarbonate (PC) and acrylonitrile-butadiene-styrene copolymer (ABS), containing post-consumer recycled (PCR) materials recovered by mechanical recycling. Thanks to our extensive knowledge in PC and ABS production and technology, CHIMEI successfully produces PCR FR-PC/ABS with physical properties equivalent to virgin PC alloy. Most notable are its excellent heat resistance and halogen-free flame retardancy. CHIMEI also implements a strict quality management and supplier assessment system to ensure our materials are high quality and come from a reliable source. Our PCR FR-PC/ABS is suited to a wide range of applications, including consumer electronics like projectors, computers, communication equipment, etc. Ecologue™ PCR FR-PC/ABS is compliant with TDS-ISO, SDS, RoHS, SVHC and international standards for environmental protection.
