Calendering

A process where a heated or molten plastic is fed between two rolls that apply heat and pressure, forcing the plastic into a sheet. The sheet is passed over additional rolls to add various surface treatments, embossing, or to improve gloss and surface smoothness. The plastic most often calendared is flexible PVC.
